Toggl Alternatives in 2026: Use Instead, or Alongside

Updated October 3, 2026 · by the Panda's Recap team

Toggl is one of the easiest timers there is, and plenty of people should stay on it. Clockify and TimeCamp cost less for teams, and Harvest goes further on billing. Panda's Recap does something different with the same hours: it turns them into your performance review and your résumé. On Toggl Track you can keep your timer and connect the two.

What Toggl does well

Toggl's reputation is simplicity. One click starts a timer, and the browser extension puts that button inside the tools you already use. There are apps for web, desktop, iPhone and Android, plus Google and Outlook calendar integration.

The free plan covers up to 3 users with timers, calendar integration, personal reports and basic invoicing. Paid plans are $9 a user a month on Starter and $16 on Premium, billed yearly, adding billable rates, team reports, approvals and more. Toggl also never takes screenshots or logs keystrokes or location.

In September 2026 Toggl relaunched as Toggl 2.0. New signups get the new app, and existing Toggl Track customers can keep using Track.

Panda's Recap

Best for: someone who tracks their time and wants it to count at review time.

A performance review Panda's Recap wrote from a year of tracked work

Panda's Recap is a task board with the timer on the card, so the record is a list of things you finished, with the hours behind each one.

When review season comes, it turns that record into a draft performance review, for free. Pro writes the finished review, builds a résumé from your real work, answers questions about your own year, and makes invoices from billable hours if you need them.

You don't have to give up Toggl. If you're on Toggl Track, Pro connects to your account, brings your past entries in once if you want them, and adds new timers to your board as you start and stop them, with the project, client and tags attached. Toggl 2.0 doesn't publish the connection this uses yet, so for now it works with Toggl Track accounts.

Pros

Cons

Clockify

Best for: a team that wants more for less per seat.

Paid plans start at $3.99 a seat a month billed yearly, and the free plan covers up to 5 users. Apps for every platform and over 100 integrations.

Pros: low prices, a big free plan, lots of features.

Cons: invoicing starts on the $5.49 Standard plan.

Harvest

Best for: an agency whose main need is billing.

Harvest's invoices take online payments and sync to Xero or QuickBooks, with expenses and budgets alongside. Seats start at $9 a month billed yearly, with usage-based charges on top.

Pros: the strongest invoicing here.

Cons: the free plan is one person and two projects.

TimeCamp

Best for: a team that needs a free plan with no user cap.

TimeCamp's free plan has unlimited users and projects. Starter is $3.99 a user a month billed yearly and adds invoicing.

Pros: unlimited free users, low paid prices.

Cons: no invoicing on the free plan.

Keep Toggl, or switch?

If you love the timer, keep it. That's what Toggl is best at.

Look at Clockify or TimeCamp if the price per person is the issue, or Harvest if billing is. And if you'd like those hours to show up in your next review and on your résumé, add Panda's Recap. On Toggl Track, the two work together.
